This piece was inspired by a still, quiet mangrove near the studio during a flood. The juxtaposed turbulence of the flooding Clarence River evokes imagery from W.B. Yeats ‘The Second Coming.’ (The widening gyre suggests a world in chaos). T.S. Eliot’s ‘Four Quartets’, with its ‘still point’ in the passage of time, suggests the inner stillness we seek in today’s turbulent world.
